Rocío Anzola: Una Vida de Empresa, Cultura y Generosidad
Latin Opinion reconoce a la empresaria venezolana que convirtió la hospitalidad en una puerta de oportunidad para cientos de inmigrantes y sus familias
En el Mes de la Herencia Hispana, Latin Opinion inicia una serie especial dedicada a reconocer a latinos e hispanos cuya vida y trabajo han dejado una huella profunda en nuestra región. La primera homenajeada es Rocío Anzola, empresaria venezolana, restauradora, experta en mercadeo y una mujer cuya generosidad ha cambiado silenciosamente el destino de muchas familias.
Nacida en Caracas y formada en un ambiente diplomático de gran riqueza cultural, Rocío creció con una visión internacional, dominio pleno del inglés y el español y una extraordinaria capacidad para relacionarse
con personas de distintos países y culturas. Esa experiencia se convirtió, con los años, en una de sus mayores fortalezas como empresaria y anfitriona.
Su trayectoria en la industria gastronómica del área de Washington es amplia. Junto a su esposo, el empresario cubano Adolfo Méndez, desarrolló Cubano’s, un concepto de cocina cubana y española con presencia en Silver Spring y Bethesda. Rocío también fue socia de Nellie’s Sports Bar, reconocido establecimiento de Washington, D.C., donde aportó su experiencia culinaria y su sensibilidad para crear espacios acogedores y diversos.
Pero el legado de Rocío Anzola no se mide solamente en restaurantes, propiedades o proyectos comerciales. Su verdadera grandeza está en las personas.
A lo largo de los años, brindó una primera oportunidad laboral a cientos de inmigrantes que llegaron a este país con sueños, necesidades y, muchas veces, muy pocas puertas abiertas. Rocío los
recibió, los orientó y confió en ellos.
Hoy, muchas de aquellas familias han prosperado; sus hijos han avanzado en las escuelas y universidades, y antiguos empleados continúan guardándole un cariño y una lealtad que atraviesan el
tiempo. Cuando Rocío llama, ellos responden. Eso no se compra: se gana con respeto, humanidad y ejemplo.
Madre de dos hijos talentosos y compañera de vida de Adolfo Méndez, Rocío representa una combinación poco común de elegancia, firmeza, cultura y corazón. Es una empresaria destacada, pero, ante todo, una
gran mujer y un gran ser humano: una digna representante de la mujer hispana y del espíritu solidario de nuestros pueblos.
En ocasión de su cumpleaños, Latin Opinion celebra su vida y su legado. Para esta casa, Rocío no es solamente una amiga: es una hermana de nuestra familia.

Latin Opinion honors the Venezuelan entrepreneur who transformed hospitality into a gateway of opportunity for hundreds of immigrants and their families
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Latin Opinion launches a special series recognizing Latinos and Hispanics whose lives, leadership, and service have left a lasting mark on our region.
Our first honoree is Rocío Anzola—a Venezuelan entrepreneur, restaurateur, marketing professional, and remarkable woman whose generosity has quietly helped change the course of countless lives.
Born in Caracas and raised in a distinguished diplomatic environment rich in culture and international experience, Rocío developed a global perspective from an early age. Fully bilingual in English and Spanish,
she possesses an extraordinary ability to connect with people from different countries, backgrounds, and cultures. Over the years, that gift became one of her greatest strengths as both a businesswoman and a gracious host.
Her career in the Washington metropolitan area’s hospitality industry is extensive. Alongside her husband, Cuban entrepreneur Adolfo Méndez, she developed Cubano’s, a Cuban and Spanish dining concept with locations in Silver Spring and Bethesda.
Rocío was also a partner in Nellie’s Sports Bar, a celebrated Washington, D.C., establishment where she contributed her culinary expertise and her distinctive ability to create welcoming and inclusive spaces.
Yet Rocío Anzola’s legacy cannot be measured solely by restaurants, properties, or successful business ventures. Her greatest legacy lives in people.
Throughout the years, she gave hundreds of immigrants their first employment opportunity in the United States. Many arrived carrying dreams and responsibilities, but with very few doors open to them.
Rocío welcomed them, guided them, believed in their abilities, and gave them an opportunity to begin again.
Today, many of those families have prospered. Their children have succeeded in school and gone on to universities, while former employees continue to hold a lifelong affection and loyalty toward the
woman who first believed in them. When Rocío calls, they are there.
That kind of loyalty cannot be purchased. It is earned through respect, compassion, integrity, and example.
The mother of two talented children and the lifelong partner of Adolfo Méndez, Rocío embodies a rare combination of elegance, strength, culture, and heart. She is an accomplished entrepreneur, but above
all, she is an extraordinary woman and human being—a distinguished representative of Hispanic women and of the generous spirit that defines our people.
On the occasion of her birthday, Latin Opinion proudly celebrates her life, her journey, and her enduring legacy. To our organization, Rocío is more than a cherished friend; she is a sister and a beloved member
of the Latin Opinion family.
