Mayla Holguin began her career with IRS:CI in El Paso, TX in 2010. As a Special Agent, she conducted large scale complex financial investigations involving tax and non-tax violations and worked side-by-side with federal, state, local, and international partners. She later became Attaché at the Mexico City Post. In this role, she served as the agency’s representative regarding criminal matters over which IRS has jurisdiction in her area of responsibility, which covered Central America. After this overseas tour, she returned to the U.S. to join the agency’s leadership in Headquarters as a Senior Analyst with International Operations. In this position, she served as a liaison to IRS:CI foreign posts and was responsible for administering various programs and initiatives in support of the agency’s international mission. This experience paved the way for her current position as a Supervisory Special Agent in the Washington, D.C. field office, where she oversees a group of highly trained Special Agents in the conduct of high-profile investigations involving identity theft, public corruption, money laundering, and complex white-collar fraud. These investigations are often conducted collaboratively with other agencies and employ a wide range of investigative techniques. Her education includes a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance, a master’s degree in Accountancy with Tax concentration, and a postgraduate diploma in International Tax.
