Se trata de «Arepi», un restaurante que ha pasado de ser un modesto puesto en el mercado de agricultores a un local permanente que promete transformar la escena gastronómica local.

La historia de «Arepi» es un relato de perseverancia y superación. Harold y Luis llegaron a Baltimore siendo apenas unos adolescentes, escapando de la inestabilidad en su país natal. El viaje a Estados Unidos fue facilitado por la ciudadanía norteamericana de Harold, quien nació mientras su madre residía en Florida a inicios de los 90’s.
Adaptarse a una nueva vida resultó ser un desafío considerable, dado el desarraigo de familia y amigos. Con un profundo amor por su cultura y un agudo sentido empresarial, los hermanos Dams detectaron un vacío en la comunidad de Baltimore: la inexistencia de comida auténtica popular criolla venezolana callejera.

Motivados por el entusiasmo de sus amigos por sus platos, decidieron emprender el camino de crear un nuevo concepto culinario. Así nació «Arepi», que inicialmente operó como un puesto en el mercado de agricultores de Fells Point, donde sus arepas, cachapas y tequeños rápidamente ganaron popularidad entre los locales.
El camino hacia la apertura de un local fijo no estuvo exento de desafíos. Los hermanos enfrentaron dificultades económicas significativas al intentar establecer su negocio, pero persistieron en su objetivo. Hoy, «Arepi» se encuentra en el 1616 Thames St., un lugar estratégico en Fells Point, conocido por su vibrante vida nocturna y su rica historia.

Los hermanos Dams están comprometidos con la frescura y la selección cuidadosa de los productos, optando por ingredientes locales para apoyar la economía de Baltimore.
